I first caught wind of this about a month ago through word of mouth and friends, and man was I excited. Carter’s Texas Smoke Pit is a new BBQ shack situated down our much loved Camber. Run by Texas native Carter and his wife April, COTC delivers everything that you love about Southern American barbecue; pulled pork and slaw, brisket, ribs and spicy beans. On Saturday was the grand opening which included more free food then you could shake a stick at, it was simply amazing. Tray after tray of food and homemade lemonade kept the sizable crowd more than content. No matter how full you were it was simply impossible to say no to another forearm sized rib. It seems like the word soon got out about this, a great crowd of local faces came round the corner to hang out and shoot the breeze over free food and cold beers. This is what sunny Southsea is all about.
